Binna Burra Lodge was pleased to be announced as a 2021 Resilience Awards finalist in September 2021, two years after the black summer bushfires that destroyed the heritage listed Lodge in 2019. Other finalists in the business award category were Floodmapp, an innovative and early stage technology company that specialises in rapid real-time flood forecasting, as well as Disaster Pharmacy Solutions, who equip pharmacy organizations with the skills and knowledge to prepare, respond, and recover from disasters and emergencies.
The Resilient Australia Awards celebrate the inspiring people and projects that build community resilience to disasters and emergencies across Australia. In 2021 the Queensland Chapter of the Awards received 56 entries, a record for Queensland and the most of any state in Australia. And the quality of all the entries was incredibly high, with judges commenting on what a privilege it was to learn of all the extraordinary initiatives taking place in communities across Queensland.
The winners were announced in October 2021, with Floodmapp taking out the win, and Binna Burra Lodge and Disaster Pharmacy Solutions being presented with the highly commended business award.
The Resilient Australia Awards is proudly sponsored by the Australian Government in partnership with the states and territories and managed by the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR). The Queensland Reconstruction Authority, through Get Ready Queensland, coordinates the Queensland awards.
