2021 Scenic Rim Business Excellence Awards

The winner is ….

Excellence in Business (20+ Staff): Binna Burra Lodge
The iconic Binna Burra Lodge is a stunning eco-retreat in the world-heritage listed Lamington National Park. The world looked on as major bushfires destroyed many of the heritage-listed buildings in the Black Summer bushfires of 2019, but the Lodge has reopened with the refurbishment of the remaining facilities and accommodation and continues to provide exceptional experiences as a gateway to the national park.

“Having battled fires, floods and a global pandemic, the biggest takeaway from this years’ awards is the incredible resilience, determination and innovation of our local business community,” said Scenic Rim Mayor Greg Christensen.

‘It’s another welcome recognition of the remarkable team effort by our staff and everyone who has helped in so many ways since the devastation we experienced in the early days of the 2019/2020 Black Summer bushfires across Australia’ said Steve Noakes, Chairperson of Binna Burra Lodge.

After being closed for one year the Binna Burra side of Lamington National Park was  reopened to the public in September 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, with its remaining infrastructure and the support of staff and guests, Binna Burra Lodge is now well on the recovery path.
