It's only a matter of weeks before Binna Burra's new accommodation is complete. The Sky Lodges are Binna Burra's new style self-contained apartments that sleep from 1 - 10 people. Choose from a Studio, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom or 3 bedroom apartment to accommodate singles, couples, families and groups.

Each has it's own fireplace and spa bath, and the views from every Sky Lodge are breathtaking. The best views available.

Sky Lodges appeal to those who prefer a more contemporary alternative to traditional Binna Burra, yet guests can still access the historic Lodge and can utlisie the Clifftop Dining Room or book onto one of our many activities.

Commando Boot Camps 2012

The Commando from TV's The Biggest Loser, will be returning in 2012 to host more Boot Camps.

Dates confirmed so far are: 13th - 16th May 2012 and 17th - 20th June 2012.

Boot Camps run for 3 days and include accommodation and food.

Binna Burra announced as EarthCheck Star Performer

For over a decade, EarthCheck has been collecting information about the operational performance of over 1100 travel and tourism organisations in more than 65 countries. This Program is the largest environmental management system for the benchmarking and certification of their operational practices. Binna Burra recently undertook the annual EarthCheck assessment and came out with top green marks! As a result of doing so well, we will feature on EarthCheck’s soon-to-be launched public website. It will contain several new features that will help draw the media’s attention to organisations who are excelling in their sustainability practices and benchmark reporting. Binna Burra Lodge has been  identified as one of those who rated at or above Best Practice level on eight or more indicators in our most recent Benchmark Assessment Report. In this same report, we did not fail in a single indicator! That’s an excellent achievement that we are very proud of. Environmental Officer for Binna Burra, Dean Hogg, has been working hard to accumulate and input the data required for this enviable       accreditation. Facts & figures include power usage, water usage and chemical usage. EarthCheck’s Greta Tolksdorf has classed Binna Burra Lodge as being ’beyond green'.

Morning Tea 'on the slab' of our new Sky Lodges

It was an eye-opener for all who attended the Sky Lodge morning tea in July 2011. The weather was perfect enhancing the uninterrupted views across the Valley. Wow! You won’t find a better view. Many of the Sky Lodge owners were there to see how their Lodges are progressing. In attendance was John Brent, Mayor of the Scenic Rim, and Cathie Johnston, Tourism Development Coordinator for the Scenic Rim. Due to a run of dry weather, the buildings are on schedule and due for completion in December 2011. Binna Burra’s new accommodation will boast spectacular views, spa-baths and fire places and will attract a new market to Binna Burra. From a 1 bedroom studio to a 3 bedroom apartment, the Sky Lodges can sleep up to 10 people. ‘Dan the Magic Man’ to perform during Shareholders Week

Local magician Dan the Magic Man will shock and stun on-lookers during this years Shareholders Week. His magic act has performed across Australia and internationally for the past fifteen years. This years Shareholders Week commences on Monday 7th November and concludes with the AGM on Sunday 13th November. The annual event has an array of activities including a trip to the local farm to milk a cow! If you are not a Shareholder, you can still attend. A Spring Walk in the Park

Spring time is when life begins in Lamington and a great time to be walking before the Summer rain. With more than 160km of Australia’s most diverse bush-walking tracks, there is plenty of choice to either go the distance or take a cool dip in the pools. One classic walk in Lamington National Park which departs from close to Binna Burra’s campsite is Dave’s Creek. This 12.4km graded track is very varied and extremely interesting. Wildflowers are abundant at this time of year. The walk takes in cliff-top tracks, creeks, mosses & ferns, Antarctic Beech trees, and a variety of lookouts. It’s a ‘must-do’.

Protestors cry out “Keep The Scenic Rim Scenic!”

Keep The Scenic Rim Scenic is a non-political group standing against mining coal seam gas in the Scenic Rim region. Formed by local businesses including tourism operators, this group of concerned residents are doing all they can to be seen & heard. Coal exploration will commence in this area in 2011.  ‘Protestors on Peaks’ is being organised by Keep The Scenic Rim Scenic in association with Lock The Gate’s National Action Day on coal seam gas. On Sunday 16th October the plan is for hundreds of people to climb our peaks with their yellow triangles and huge white banners, carrying anti-CSG and coal mining messages. Protestors on Peaks is designed to be a truly different, visual, media event, which includes an aerial flyover at around 11am to capture footage for national TV news bulletins covering protests across the country. Michael Groom, professional speaker and mountain climber, is unquestionably one of the world’s greatest 'big' mountain climbers. In 1995 he became the fourth person in the world to climb the four highest mountains without the assistance of bottled oxygen. In 1999 he successfully climbed Makalu, the smallest and for Michael, the last of the 'big five' - the five highest mountains in the world. Makalu, Lhotse, Kangchenjunga, K2 and Everest—Michael climbed them all without the assistance of bottled oxygen, and all but Kangchenjunga he climbed without the front third of both feet.

Michael is one of Australia’s most popular keynote speakers and has been a professional speaker since 1991. Approximately 100 staff have visited the lodge staying 2 to 3 days each time to be challenged both mentally and physically to scale their way to leadership excellence.

Best of all is the relaxed, flexible and resourceful staff. No problem, no matter how weird or wonderful it is, is ever too hard for the Binna Burra crew to solve. Sure you may need to be a bit flexible on your end but isn’t that just life, it’s certainly what our leadership teachings is all about.

Apparently it was our best one yet! Loved the activities, location, accommodation, food, drinks, everything.

Noeline was an absolute pleasure to work with and I know she went above and beyond what is required of her, she is so thorough and organised and nothing was too much trouble for her, and any request I had for her was done in a prompt manner and a “no problem” I will just do that now, go and get that now, let them know etc – she is just a superstar.

And massive compliments to the rest of your team – Dean, Luke, Damien, Katie, Morgan, Erin & Debbi (was that the lady on the bar that looked after us? If not that is who I mean – sorry lots of names to remember) – from the guides introducing themselves at dinner the night before, having a chat, sitting with us at Breakfast on Friday morning, telling us about Binna Burra and the area, showing interest in who they spoke to, the can do attitude they showed to see to anything we requested, the friendly, fabulous attitude of all of them is a credit to your business.

You should be very proud. They were all big contributors to my conference being so successful and running as smoothly as it did. So kudos to them – they all rock! And more importantly they are the sort of people that should be in Hospitality – as they continually showed and demonstrated it all weekend! (not so common in the industry these days).

Sky Lodges are Binna Burra’s upcoming new accommodation - 18 spacious one, two & three bedroom apartments offering a stylish contemporary alternative to Binna Burra’s traditional lodges. Each will offer generous balconies with breathtaking views, fully equipped self-contained cooking facilities, spa baths, fire places, flat screen TVs & wireless internet. Due for completion by December 2011, Sky Lodges are a luxury option for conference bookers and individual holiday-makers. Binna Burra have already begun taking bookings. Sky Lodges will be privately owned, and managed by Binna Burra Lodge.
