Set high in the hills of the world heritage listed rainforest, there are more than 160km of bush walks, and adventure activities that the kids will love. Binna Burra’s expert guides are on hand seven days a week to educate and invigorate with a knowledge and love of the surrounds. The free daily activities can include guided walks to caves or waterfalls, evening ‘Spotlighting’ discovering nocturnal native animals, and craft, bush tucker talks or archery.

Family-friendly activities on the program consider children’s needs, interests, and abilities. It’s an opportunity for nature-based experiences and education rather than computers, game consoles and television (the Lodge rooms deliberately have no TV).

Australia provides some of the world's best stargazing, and our star-talker, Professor David Moriarty will take you on a tour of the spectacular southern night sky. The weekend of Star Gazing at Binna Burra will take place on August 9th & 10th.

Professor Moriarty will provide an insight into ‘what is out there’ on the Friday night, with a presentation in the Lodge library after dinner, and you’ll put this into practise on the Saturday night, with viewings in the clear dark winter sky. Discover moons, planets, galaxies, and a breathtaking blanket of stars and constellations.

Interested? Why not check out ‘Google Sky’…. a very popular online resource for navigating around the sky, zooming in to see lots of celestial objects. It’s an add-on to the downloadable Google Earth, which lets you do the same thing, except this time by looking down on our planet instead of looking away from it. Perhaps this might tempt you into learning more?

Join us for a weekend of entertaining evenings under the brilliant and awe-inspiring Australian Skies.

Star Gazing is complimentary for guests staying at the Mountain & the Sky Lodges. Spaces are strictly limited.

New Safari Tents @ the Rainforest Campsite

Friday, 07 June 2013 13:48
Published in News
On the doorstep of this vast wilderness of Lamington National Park is the Binna Burra Rainforest Campsite. Set high up on the ranges with panoramic views of the Numinbah Valley and the far-away coastal plains, options include a variety of tent sites and a limited number of powered and un-powered van sites suitable for campervans. Then of the course, are the very popular Safari Tents.

Ideal for couples, families and specialty groups, the Safari Tents are a practical and unique accommodation option. This year, Binna Burra has begun replacing some of the older cabins with brand new ‘made to order’ versions, similar to the older style, but of course brand spanking new!

Safari Tents are a great way of camping…not quite ‘glamping’, however an easy option if you want the outdoor experience, but don’t have the camping gear, or you simply can’t be bothered going to the effort of putting it all up!

Safari tents accommodate 2 to 6 people and are furnished with pine beds and mattresses, vinyl floors, screened opening windows, lighting and your own private veranda with table and chairs, set into the rainforest. Each cabin has its own fire pit, which is very unusual so close to a national park. It makes staying here a truly authentic camping experience. Wood is available to buy from the Lodge and marshmallows can usually be purchased from the Teahouse on weekends or from the Lodge Reception. BYO linen, blankets and pillows or ask reservations team about our linen hire service.

Breathe in the fresh mountain air and watch little pademelons skip by, whilst listening to an array of birdsong.

Barbershop Quartets to entertain at the Lodge

Published in News
Two Barbershop Quartets will entertain guests at Binna Burra Lodge in the Clifftop Dining Room on 23rd & 24th August.

‘Left Field’ and ‘Escapade’ are all about mates singing a four part harmony. The Toowoomba based groups have performed at Binna Burra since 2010, and owing to their success they have returned year upon year. The boys love what they do and so will you.

It’s a special treat and adds that little something ‘extra’ to your weekend stay.

Mountain Lodge, Sky Lodge and Campsite guests are very welcome to join in the ambiance by booking a table for dinner on either night. To reserve, call 1300 246 622.

BB celebrates 80 wonderful years in 2013

It was in 1933 that Binna Burra brought its first holiday makers up the hill at Beechmont, to the first Christmas Camp in 1933. The wind, rain and storms did not make the ‘canvas camp’ a comfortable experience, but nonetheless, the group of intrepid adventurers persevered, and Binna Burra grew into what it is today.

This year, Binna Burra turns 80, and is celebrating with its first annual ‘Back to Binna Burra’ festival in December. The four day event will commence on Wednesday 4th and end on Sunday 8th December, and will comprise of numerous activities and entertainment, involving local community, friends, family, shareholders, guests, staff, and everything that makes ‘Binna Burra’.

A true celebration, with historical readings and presentations, guest speakers and guides, traditional bush-dance with live music in the Barn, hearty authentic recipes on the menu, historic demonstrations, bush breakfast, and campfire bush poetry.

Come ‘Back to Binna Burra’ and experience who we are and what it is that you love about this special place.
