With so much to see and do in the Scenic Rim, it can be hard to pick!

We’ve compiled a shortlist of our most favourite spots to check out when visiting Binna Burra and Beechmont. You’ll find a range of activities from parks and lookout points, shops and retail stores, short walks and hiking trails and more.

Hinze Dam, walk & lookout

Unique views and an all-flat walk over the Dam Wall edging along the lake.

DetailsHinze Dam may be the Gold Coast’s chief water catchment but, with its stunning hinterland setting, state of the art information centre and onsite View Cafe, wall walk, picnic grounds, pathways, secluded fishing coves and mountain bike trail it is also a great destination for tourists, day-trippers and locals.

From the café, there’s the option of checking out the grounds below via a series of short circuitous pathways that wind their way to the dam’s edge via landscaped gardens, where a couple of giant concrete and timber structures create the sense of viewing the dam through a framed picture.

Canungra village and shops

Canungra is a vibrant country village nestled in the Gold Coast Hinterland

The town has retained its old-world charm and is a popular destination with day-trippers, motorcyclists, hang-gliders, paragliders, birdwatchers, and bushwalkers.

Whether you visit for a day trip or stay for several nights, there is plenty to do in and around the town. Canungra has a vibrant cafe culture. Enjoy a meal or a coffee in one of the many cafes located in the heart of the town. Afterward, browse the delightful boutique fashion stores in the main street or explore the antique shops, and art galleries.

Rosins Lookout, Beechmont

A lookout with a little more than what you’d bargain for

DetailsOn your way to Binna Burra through the Scenic Rim, a must-stop along the way is the one and only Rosins Lookout Conservation Park which has incredible views of the mountainous ranges bordering the QLD & NSW borders.

Situated in the stunning countryside of Southern Queensland, it is only an hour and a half’s drive south from Brisbane. An easy day trip or a weekend escape, the windy roads with views of the Gold Coast Hinterland provide some beautiful “pit-stops” along the way to relax and take in the view with plenty of activities on offer also.
