Join bird-watching legend Barry Davies as he hosts the annual Binna Burra Birding Break in world heritage listed Lamington National Park.
Spring's Bird-Watching event will be October 14th – 17th 2013.
“Late Spring is the perfect time of the year for bird watching in Lamington National Park. By then the first storms of the season will have dumped enough rain to revitalise the forest after the ‘dry’ and the birds will be in a frenzy of breeding activity. The migrant species will all be back on the mountain after their journeys to northern Australia and Melanesia, in the case of Flycatchers and some Cuckoo species, or, as is the case with Noisy Pittas, from down the mountain along the coastal forests. With everyone at home the morning chorus is tumultuous and the prospects of seeing birds is excellent”.
With more than 230 bird species, Lamington is home to Australia's largest collection of sub-tropical birds, as well as an incredible variety of other animals and plants.
One of the great joys of bird watching is that you never know what you will find.
